Interdisciplinary Artist & Creative Technologist

Siqi Tang is an Interdisciplinary Artist and Creative Technologist currently pursuing a degree in Music Technology and Art at Shanghai Conservatory of Music. His practice centers on sound as a primary medium, integrating audio engineering, interactive systems design, embodied experience, and social inquiry to explore sound's multifaceted significance in individual development, psychological experience, and social structures.

Vocal Practice & Performance

With extensive professional training in vocal performance and a rich background in choral music, Siqi brings sophisticated understanding of the human voice as a highly embodied and socially situated medium. He currently serves as a bass singer with Shanghai Echo Chamber Choir, performing repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary works. He has collaborated with renowned composers and performed in major venues, including a performance of Shihong Ren's contemporary work "Recall" at the Hangzhou Musicacoustica International Electronic Music Festival. His vocal practice extends beyond traditional music performance into artistic exploration of voice as a complex, multidimensional phenomenon.

Audio Engineering & Interactive Systems

Siqi possesses strong technical competencies in audio engineering and interactive system development. He led the development of TenorFlow, an innovative voice synthesis and interactive control platform built on the Faust audio programming language, web technologies, and gesture recognition. The project won the Second Prize at the 19th Shanghai "Challenge Cup" Competition. His work exemplifies a tight integration of technical means with artistic vision, enabling him to independently manage the complete creative process from conceptualization through real-time presentation.

Professional Collaborations

Siqi has collaborated professionally with internationally renowned composers and institutions. He served as a sound engineer for the production of Tristan Murail's guzheng concerto "Le Livre des merveilles," managing electronic audio system implementation. He also participated in the interactive sound-based theatrical installation "Blind Opera" developed at Beijing University's Institute for Sound Studies, working as a development assistant and co-director, contributing to the integration of sound interactive systems with theatrical design and creative process. He has also worked as a sound designer for theatrical productions including "White Spots" and "Beautiful."

Research & Social Engagement

Siqi is the principal researcher of the "Adolescent Voice Change Research" project at Shanghai Conservatory of Music, a school-level innovation and entrepreneurship incubation initiative supported by the Shanghai Acoustics Key Laboratory and the Artificial Intelligence Music Therapy Lab. Through long-term collaboration with youth choirs and professional studios, he has systematically collected and analyzed the voice transformation process during puberty. Based on this research, he created the sound installation artwork "Voice Change I," which uses sound, light, and sensor systems to explore themes of growth, perception, and vocal fragility. This work received the National First Prize at the China Creative Ideas Competition in the Sound Landscape Installation category.

In collaboration with composers, Siqi created the song "I Want to Be Do," which addresses adolescents' real needs for recognition, being heard, and stage expression through limited vocal range and direct lyrical writing. This demonstrates his ability to translate research into humanistic musical creation with social impact.

Public Education & Community Engagement

Siqi has conducted exhibitions and workshops around his sound and interactive installation works at Shanghai School for the Blind, student activity centers, and Shanghai Science and Art Festival, guiding audiences in sound perception and interactive experience. He brings substantive arts education and public engagement experience to his practice.

Leadership & Professional Engagements

He is the founder of Shanghai IIVISION Cultural Technology Co., Ltd. (IIVISION), a company focused on artistic creation, project development, and live performance production. Beyond his work with IIVISION, he has contributed to Jiemo Sing Cultural Technology Co., Ltd. in developing content and teaching frameworks for voice visualization applications. He served as the China Product Ambassador for Italian audio technology company Audio Modeling, promoting professional audio technologies. He has also worked with ByteDance on artificial intelligence and music-related initiatives, bringing comprehensive understanding of contemporary music technology and new media arts ecosystems.
